JD Miller, PhD

JD Miller, PhD is CRO in Residence at Rothschild & Co.'s Five Arrows, where he advises portfolio companies on go-to-market strategy and revenue leadership. He has been chief revenue officer of Kantata and Motus and CEO of the Americas for BravoSolution, and began his career as employee number 26 at a software company that grew to a $9 billion IPO.

 

He holds a PhD in Organizational Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his research on social networks and technology adoption is cited in work on knowledge management. That mix of research and frontline selling runs through both of his books.

 

His TEDxNormal talk, "Reclaiming Our Humanity in the Age of the Algorithm," tells how an algorithm mistook his Chicago balcony garden for a food influencer.

 

The Revenue Operations Alliance named him CRO of the Year in 2024, StreetWise named him one of the 20 Most Inspiring Chicagoans in 2019, and Crain's Chicago Business named him a Notable Nonprofit Board Leader in 2024.

 

He is the Founding President and Board Chair Emeritus of Care for Friends.
